  • Combine the cereals, nuts and pretzels in crock-pot.
  • Mix the melted butter with the remaining ingredients and pour over cereal mixture; tossing lightly to coat.

  • Cook on high for 2 hours, stirring well every 30 minutes; turn to low for 2 to 4 hours.

  1. Using the crock pot for this is a great idea. I used the crisp x cereals I like best and used peanuts. The first batch started to burn. The second time around I cooked it on high for 1 hour then low for 2 hours and it was perfect for me.

  2. Finally, a party mix I can make without burning it! The ovenbaked mixes always seem a bit difficult to stir without flinging it all over the kitchen, the floor, et cetera. LOL. (I use a liner bag for slow cookers when I make this party mix and so clean-up is a breeze and removing the mix from the cooker is a cinch.) :) Thank you for this easy version of party mix! This is going to get packed in small, new trash buckets and mailed to the college students I know and love!

  3. I love, Love, LOVE Party Mix! Probably a little too much - it's comfort food to me! This is a great recipe! I'd have never thought to try making it in the crock pot, but will definitely be making again. Thanks for sharing! Made For AUS/NZ Recipe Tag #33.

  4. This is my new way to prepare party mix! It was crunchy with plenty of flavor! This was so much better than doing it in the oven!

  5. This was great...very easy to do. I think that whatever size crock pot you use you need to keep an eye on it so it won't burn. I have an extra-large oval crock pot and mine was done in 2 hours at high. I used a mixture of leftover cereal and snacks and this lasted only 1 day at my house. Will make again. Made for Photo Tag.

I came to this site in March of 2004. It was then called Recipezaar. This site was the first on-line site that I ever joined. I first popped in 2003 while searching for a Peach Cobbler Recipe. In March of 2004, DH was having shoulder surgery and I was looking for a Split Pea Soup. Once again I found myself on Zaar as it came to be called. Over the years I hung out and learned from some of the best home cooks in the country, I posted over 700 recipes on the site, reviewed over 3500 recipes and posted over 3000 food photos. Over the next 10 years the site made many changes and in 2010 it was sold to to Food Network and became Food.com. Until last year we played games, talked and shared with one another. As a result of the community and the relationships I built I got to meet some wonderful people from all over the country. I also have a great number of friends that I have never meet face to face. Some of us still hang out at various places across the net. Zaar was more than a cooking community. It was an internet community of friendship. Life is an adventure ever changing.
