    Ingredients:

    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 2 medium onions, chopped
    • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
    • 500 g red cabbage, shredded
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 3 tablespoons ruby port

    Directions:

    1. 1
      Heat oil and gently fry the onion until softened.
    2. 2
      Add allspice, cabbage and salt and cook over a low heat for five minutes. Cabbage should be tender but with some bite.
    3. 3
      Cabbage can now be left until next day if desired.
    4. 4
      Add port and simmer until piping hot.
    5. 5
      Season if needed.
